Having now completed a new extension, this busy RCVS practice standards accredited GP practice in Gloucester is seeking an experienced vet to join their team.
The practice first opened in 2012 and has retained many of the same team members since then, with many of their clinical staff having been with them for over 8 years.
"This practice has a very varied case load and an excellent work environment. Working here has allowed me to develop in all areas of skill sets in general first opinion practice over the last 5 years. The work team is fantastic across the board from reception to management, and I feel my voice is heard at all times." - Zack (BVM&S MRCVS), Veterinary Surgeon,
Their owner and vet qualified in South Africa in 2000 and is a very experienced Joint Venture Partner and GP vet. He enjoys most aspects of veterinary practice, with a keen interest in ophthalmology, clinical pathology, and medicine.
He operates an open-door policy, with the team working closely together, learning from each others strengths and skills, and benefiting from the exceptionally varied caseload they see.
In addition to their vet team, they have an incredible, longstanding, and knowledgeable nursing team of 5 RVNs whose skills are fully utilised, as well as a non-clinical team supported by their Practice Manager, who is also a qualified RVN and Mental Health First Aider.
This is a fast-paced practice with an ever-growing and varied caseload, so the role will be full-time, working a shift pattern of either 8 am - 4 pm or midday - 8 pm. The role will also include 1 in 4 weekends, with days off during the week when a weekend is worked and optional additional on-call hours. If these hours dont quite suit you, we would still love to hear from them and would be happy to discuss their preferred hours.
The days are busy, but they are also well-structured, with consults given 20 minutes as standard, and time for breaks, admin, and lunch all factored into the day.
Due to the nature of the role, they are looking for an experienced vet with broad GP skills, exceptional communication skills, and someone who will thrive on learning from the varied caseload while providing the highest level of veterinary care.
In return for dedication and high-quality work, they can offer:
- Salary up to £70,000, dependent on experience
- Dedicated CPD allowance and time off, including funding towards Certificates
- No out-of-hours work
- Paid holiday of 28 days, rising to 33 days after 2 years of service
- Paid professional memberships, including RCVS and BVA
- Life assurance (4 x annual salary)
- Contributory pension scheme
- Relocation allowance
- Cycle to work scheme
- Colleague reward hub exclusive offers and discounts online and on the high street, including 20% off.
The practice is ideally located in an area with great local amenities, plenty of parking, and good public transport links, as well as being close to the M5, which connects to larger towns and cities within the UK. Its also a short drive from the beautiful Cotswolds. For international travel, the nearest airports are Birmingham (1 hr away), Bristol (1.5 hrs away), and London Heathrow (2 hrs away).
